Benefit selection period 3 will be open from December 4, 2023 at 12:00 pm PST to December 10, 2023 at 11:59 pm PST. The points snapshot will take place on December 1, 2023 at 11:59 pm PDT. The number of points you have in your account at the time of the snapshot will determine your level for benefit selection.

Benefit selection period 2 was open from August 21, 2023 at 12:00 pm PDT to August 27, 2023 at 11:59 pm PDT. The points snapshot took place on August 18, 2023 at 11:59 pm PDT. The number of points you had in your account at the time of the snapshot determined your level for benefit selection.

Throughout the year, Odyssey participants will have opportunities to select a benefit based on the number of points they have obtained by completing journeys and owning stamps. The Odyssey team has stated that benefit selection periods will likely occur quarterly in the future, however the website authors anticipate seeing a total of three selection periods for 2023.

The first benefit selection period (BSP) was open from April 24, 2023 to April 30, 2023. A snapshot took place on April 21, 2023, and the number of points present at that time determined which benefit level each user was eligible for. Users who qualified for a level were able to choose one total benefit from their qualifying level or lower. One selection per level was not allowed. For example, if someone who qualified for level three decided to choose a Feeding America Donation from level one, that would be their only benefit for the selection period. They would not be able to choose an additional benefit from level two or three. 

Selections for BSP 1 were final with no way to modify after confirmation. This is a beta program and the mechanics of future benefit selections may change, however we advise you to use caution and make sure to only select the one benefit you are sure you want unless new information is provided.

The benefit options that were available for BSP 1 are pictured below, and we are hoping to see exciting new benefit options for BSP 2 (expected to occur around August 2023). BSP 2 has been confirmed to feature four levels instead of three! To qualify for Level 4 you must have 10,000 points or more.

Level 3 featured the option to create a completely unique piece of merchandise by printing one of your unique stamps on a tumbler. There will likely be more opportunities to customize various merchandise in future BSPs.

One unique Level 2 benefit was the ability to name a coffee tree at the Starbucks Hacienda Alsacia coffee farm in Costa Rica! Users who chose this option were provided with an image of their unique tree's name, and its location.

Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Benefits

Q. How many benefits do I get to choose?

A. Each benefit selection period (BSP) you may choose one benefit total, regardless of your level. As a reminder, there is one BSP per quarter.

Q. Do I redeem my points in exchange for a benefit?

A. No, choosing a benefit does not "spend" your points. Having more Odyssey points unlocks more reward options to choose from. Points will carry over to the next benefit selection period. You keep your points until their expiration date (12/31/2023 for all currently issued stamps as of June 2023) or until you sell or transfer that stamp (points will travel with the stamp to the new owner). 

Q. What happens if I missed the selection period?

A. If you did not select a benefit during the allotted time period, you will not receive a benefit. You will have to wait for the next selection period.

Q. Will benefits repeat and be available in successive benefit selection periods?

A. Unknown, but you should assume that they will never be available again. The community team has not promised that any benefit will repeat, but they also have not said that the benefits will never repeat.  

Q. Do I have to pay any money to receive my benefit if it is a physical product?

A. No, all physical benefits were shipped to Odyssey users free of charge in the first benefits selection period. 

Q. Are some benefits limited?

A. Yes, higher tier benefits may have limited space or quantities. In the first benefits selection period there were only 24 spots available for the Starbucks Reserve Experience at the  Chicago Roastery. Those spots were taken in less than a minute once the benefit selection window opened. Therefore, if you wish to obtain a benefit which is limited, you should make sure you select your benefit immediately upon the opening of the benefit selection window.
